About The Chef, Agnes Chang:

Agnes Chang grew up in Batu Pahat, Johor before settling down in Kuala Lumpur after her marriage. Agnes was a specialist Home Science teacher for over 23 years before opting for early retirement and venturing out as professional home economist.

Agnes has travelled extensively to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Europe, America, Australia and most Asean countries to master different cuisines and to upgrade her culinary skills. Her experience and skills in various types of cuisines have won her numerous supporters and fans.

And with over 23 years of teaching experience, Agnes is always comfortable and confident in presenting her recipes in a simple and “easy-to-understand” way, whether to an audience of over a thousand or in front of recording cameras for TV shows.

Agnes is one of the most popular and well-received TV show hosts, in programmes such as “Neptune Ten for Taste” every Sunday morning for the past four years. She is also presently consultant to many international food companies and contributes to 2 regular columns in “Yum Yum Magazine”. She has written 6 cookbooks for the popular “Her World” magazine.

Agnes has also published 4 of her own cookbooks, “Agnes Chang's Tasty Temptations”(in 1998) “Agnes Chang's Hawkers' Delights” (in 2000), “Baking Made Easy”(in 2001) and “Delightful Snacks and Dim Sum”(in 2003) of which have sold over 50,000 copies each and were on “Yazhou Zhoukan” Magazine's Best Sellers lists. Her series of cooking VCDs have also become collector's items for those who enjoy and love cooking.

Despite her heavy schedules, Agnes has also found time to contribute as a member of Wanita MCA's Central Committee. She is also the Deputy Director of the Multi-Purpose Training Centre and Chief of the Home Science Bureau. Agnes has travelled extensively across Malaysia to conduct cookery courses for various women's organisations, helping to promote small cottage industries in women's own homes and thus, improve their financial status.

Over the years, Agnes has also represented Wanita MCA to help train chefs for Esquire Kitchen, which provided job opportunities for those who needed help. In appreciation and recognition of her contributions to the community, Agnes was conferred the P.P.N. by the DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agung in 1997 and A.M.N in 2005.
